Cookie Policy
Effective November 1, 2026 · Last updated September 28, 2026
This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (local storage, pixels and app SDKs) that Lanai Group LLC dba Hot Sauce Headquarters uses on HotSauceHeadquarters.com and in the Hot Sauce HQ apps, and how you control them.
1. Your choice comes first
On your first visit to the website, everyone sees a banner that asks for your choice. "Reject all" is as easy as "Accept all," and in the EU and UK nothing optional is pre-selected. In the EU and UK, analytics, advertising and preference cookies stay off until you opt in. Everywhere else they are on from the start and stop as soon as you choose Reject all, turn them off in Cookie settings, turn on Do not sell or share, or your browser sends Global Privacy Control. You can change your choice any time from Cookie settings in the footer or Settings → Privacy & data. We record your choice and when you made it. In the apps, Google's consent form asks before personalized ads, and on iPhone we ask for tracking permission (App Tracking Transparency) before any cross-app tracking.
2. Categories we use
| Category | What it does | Examples | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Necessary | Keeps you signed in, protects forms and accounts, remembers your cookie choice | Supabase sign-in session, Cloudflare security and Turnstile bot check, consent record | Always on |
| Preferences | Remembers settings such as grid or list view, filters and accessibility mode | Hot Sauce HQ preference storage | EU/UK: off until you opt in. Elsewhere: on until you reject |
| Analytics | Helps us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it | Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics | EU/UK: off until you opt in. Elsewhere: on until you reject |
| Advertising | Shows and measures ads for Free members; personalizes them unless you opt out (EU/UK: only if you opt in) | Google AdSense (web), Google AdMob (apps) | EU/UK: off until you opt in. Elsewhere: on until you reject |
Necessary cookies do not require consent because the Service cannot work without them.
3. Google Consent Mode
We use Google Consent Mode. In the EU and UK, until you opt in, Google analytics and advertising tags receive a "denied" signal and do not set advertising or analytics cookies. Elsewhere they receive "denied" as soon as you reject or opt out. If you reject advertising cookies, Free members may still see non-personalized ads.
4. Global Privacy Control and "Do Not Sell or Share"
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of the sale or sharing of personal information and turn off advertising cookies for that browser. You can also turn on "Do not sell or share my personal information" in Settings.
5. How long cookies last
Session cookies end when you close the browser. Others last from a few days up to 2 years, depending on the provider, unless you delete them sooner. Your cookie choice is stored for 12 months, after which we ask again.
6. Browser and device controls
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and reset your advertising ID or limit ad tracking in your phone settings. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the Service from working.
